When I first decided to stop providing therapy and start life coaching with clients, I worried that I wouldn’t be able to get as “deep” with clients because we would only focus on superficial issues. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My clients walk into my office or call me on the phone and allow me into their lives with such courage and conviction that I’m often in awe of their determination.
Opening up to a relative stranger, sharing dreams, wishes, fears and insecurities is not for the weak willed. My clients plow through our work together and go to take on the world in their own unique ways. I always ask what brought them to me. What gave them the courage to make that first call and to reach out for help? The answer is almost always the same. “I was ready to do things differently.”
Every client has said that she knew it was time to make a change. Maybe it was to change her relationship. Maybe it was her career, her parenting style, or to reduce her stress. But each of them knew that enough was enough. That’s also when I made my own changes. When enough was enough and it was time to live a better life. I wish I could take credit for the changes that my clients make, but I’m just a blissfully lucky guide in their journey.
There are many, many days that I pinch myself to make sure that I really get to work with these amazing women. I learn so much from each of them. I grow a little bit from watching them grow and when they fly . . . it is a sight to behold. Sometimes I want to scream their names to the world and say, “Will you look at her go? She is glorious!” I am endlessly grateful.
Love,
