How have you done this month with putting some space into your life? If you’re like me, it’s truly been a challenge. I find that nearly every minute of my day is filled with work or something that I’ve scheduled. Although almost everything I do is something that I want to do, without some space I’m not enjoying things as much as I would like to. I’ve realized that I have very little quiet time in my head!

Some people meditate and find space there. I’m not a huge meditator, so I wanted to find other ways to really connect with some well-needed open space. I used to travel a lot for work and that’s when I would find that space. I’d cozy into a plane seat and just be. I’d put head phones in so that no one would talk to me, but I wouldn’t put anything on so that I could enjoy the quiet. Since I now rarely travel for work, I’ve realized that I have lost that quiet time and space.

Based on what I hear from clients and others I work with, I’m not alone. We are all hamsters on a wheel, going and going and not stopping to check in with ourselves and have quiet space to contemplate life. Without that, we miss out on the opportunity for insights, creative thoughts, and day dreaming. Adding some of that back into my life has been wonderful. I find myself calmer, more productive, and more creative. I’m certainly less cranky and a lot more content.

My challenge for you this week is to keep going with making space in your life. Be intentional with this and use that time to be present and with yourself. See what comes up for you and notice how much calmer and more interesting your day is when you make space for you. Let me know how you do.
