2022 was a mixed year on books, podcasts, movies, and shows. There was a lot to choose from, but not all of it was good, at least not according to me.
So here are my favorites from this year.
Books
Hell of a Book by Jason Mott
Atlas of the Heart (non fiction) by Brené Brown
Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult
The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
Last Summer on State Street by Toya Wolfe
The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson
The School for Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan
I usually love more books but this year, meh.
Podcasts
We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle
A Slight Change of Plans with Maya Shankar
Unlocking Us with Brené Brown
For the Love with Jen Hatmaker
Yep, all badass women and all excellent podcasts.

Better Call Saul – Seriously, watch this series. It’s amazing.
Yellowstone – How come I never knew about this show until this year and why doesn’t Beth live at my house so we can swear at people all day?
1883 – OMG, have Kleenex handy…like lots of it.
The Great – I think this came out in 2020 but who cares, it’s fantastic. Completely inappropriate, funny, and poignant at the same time. Do not miss this show.
House of the Dragon – This is entertaining, but so confusing. Everyone has the same blond hair and the same names. Watch it with subtitles or you will be totally lost. If you are pregnant, do not watch this show. DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW IF YOU ARE PREGNANT!! Seriously.
Succession – I also don’t know when this came out and again, it doesn’t matter. It’s a great show.
The White Lotus – Cringy and inappropriate, yet great fun. Don’t watch it with your kids anywhere nearby.
Abbott Elementary – you will need this show after all of the sex and violence that I recommended above.
I’d love to hear your recommendations as well. What great books, podcasts, movies, and shows did I miss this year?

The Love Boat and Johnny Carson – both are ways to watch history. The Love Boat featured topics such as transgender, infidelity, (after all it is the love boat), mansplaining, loss (widows), new starts, etc.
Johnny talks about world news—the embargo, Desert Storm, politics, etc. It’s interesting to consume those as an adult.
